What's a guy gotta do to get some attention around here!

As you know, I have a new sister now.  She seems to be taking all the attention away from me.  I like her an all, but we all know that I am the cutest kid in this family!

So... last night I thought I would take things into my own hands.  I have had a cold the last few days, and last night I started coughing lots.  So much that it was really hard for me to breath.  Mom and Dad called the hospital and they told me I had to bundle up and go stand outside with Daddy for a while.  (What kinda stupid idea is that?  I am sick, and they tell me to go out in the cold?  Come on!) It did help, but I was still coughing lots and wasn't breathing well so I had to go to the ER.

While I was there I had to breath into this really weird machine that had medicine in it.  After a couple of those treatments, I felt lots better!  They took a few pictures of my lung, listened to me breath, and sent me home with my very own machine with medicine!  Now when I get like that we don't need to go to the ER anymore.

As always, Dad was snapping pictures on his phone.  Here is one of me sitting in the ER.  Looks fun doesn't it?  Hopefully I will sleep better tonight!

"Christmas Sock"

here is another picture of my little sister Avery. Doesn't she look cute in her stocking? Last night she slept really good, at least that is what Mom tells me.She looks cute in her "Christmas sock" but I sure hope I get more than just a sister in MY sock on Christmas morning!I guess there isn't a whole lot more to update right now. I need to get back to being a big brother... Its a big job you know!

A few more pictures of Avery...

Christmas came early this year!

I like it when they call me big brother!

Hey everyone!  I am now a big brother!  That's right!  Avery Joy Folkestad was born on December 10th!  Technically I am still sleeping so don't tell mom and dad I am on the internet.  I overhead dad talking to Grandma .  He said my sister is 18 inches long and weighs 6.4 pounds.  I can tell already that I am going to need to protect her, she's a little one.

here is a picture of my little sister and mom.  I am proud, but I think mom is even more proud!

Curious Caden

It's been a busy fall around our house and lately I've been up to a little mischief of my own. Last week I jammed something in one of the empty phone jacks and put our phone lines out for a while. This week, I thought I'd check out the red lever by the water heater. Turns out it shuts the gas line off to the water heater and puts the pilot light out (my mom's a good plumber and fixed it). My mom blames me; I say there's a munchkin in our house.

Weekend at the farm

This weekend when dad was in Colorado springs, mom and I headed up north to the farm; and I got to see both Grandmas & Grandpas - I had lots and lots of fun. It was harvest time, so I got to see lots of tractors, trucks and the combine in action. I really liked to look at them and would walk up close, but I wasn't quite ready to take a ride in them - they were a bit too scary. (Grandpa called me a city slicker) Grandma and I went out to the field to pick some corn so I can feed and watch the squirrels out my window at home.

Uncle George and I made good supervisors as grandpa filled the grain bin.

Tuesday we got to go to my Aunt Dori & Uncle ken's organic dairy farm to see a real farm with real animals. I liked the baby calves a lot! We were even able to get some tasty cheese and play on the new fun playground at their farm! (Mom says thanks for the extra's in the bag aunt dori!)

Practicing for baby brother

Dad was teaching me how to make silly faces one night.

Practicing my peek-a-boo technique. I plan on being a very helpful big brother!

Trunk or treat

This Halloween instead of a big carnival, our church hosted Trunk-or-Treat. People in the church decked out their cars (and tractors) and we got to go "treat-treat" from one car to another. Mom and dad were in charge of it, so they didn't get any pictures of my outfit and they also forgot to feed me supper that night! After all of my tears and drama, they finally figured it out and fed me. Thank goodness! Mom says she'll still take a picture of me in my costume with my monster bucket for all of you. But here's a few pics of the fun we had.

good times

I love to play basketball with dad.

Uncle John gave me these japanese animal matching cards last year. I'm starting to get really good at matching.

sometimes the silly japanese pictures throw me for a loop.

Working on a successful alligator match-up.

Baking round 2

Baking round 2; only this time even more messy!

Mom worked late one night, so dad and I ordered pizza in. When the pizza man came and opened the bag, the smell of pizza filled the air. I raced from the living room to the entry and yelled...mmmm..DELICIOUS!

christmas at folkestad's

After supper dad thought some cookies sounded good, he was supposed to make them, but somehow mom and I ended up making cookies. We made PB chocolate kiss cookies...which for some reason only seem to show up at christmas, but we made them anyway.

It was my job to roll the dough in the sugar and put them on the cookie sheet.

They didn't always end up very round...and some had lots of sugar and some had none.

Rolling dough just like mom. I got really good at making snakes out of my dough. Mom wasn't quite as into my idea of snake cookies as I was. All said and done, they were tasty cookies: I had two after my bath tonight!

I love to paint! Last weekend we had lots of friends come and help us put a new roof on our house, so I got to spend the day w/ grandma and a new friend. I painted a car and she painted a fish. We had lots of fun and we have a nice new roof. Thank you friends!

I got to watch the first half of the Vikings game with the High Schoolers tonight! It was so much fun! We were in the back yard of Mr. Fisk's! It was cold and raining, but we toughed it out. We sat under a big tent and watched the game on a 10 foot by 12 foot screen! It was so much fun... especially since the Vikings won!
One of the fun parts was that one of the students brought a horn to blow after ever viking Touch Down. I didn't do a very good job at it, but it made Daddy proud to see me try! I think that I am going to like being a Viking fan!

One more thing. Mom and I were later getting to the party. One the way there, all the bars in Wisconsin were PACKED with fans... Apparently the Packer fans are really that "Die Hard," when mom and I came home at half time, most of those same bars looked EMPTY. haha!

Good night, I need to get a good sleep. Daddy tells me there is a really big Twins game tomorrow afternoon. Go Twins!

Porkfest 2009

This weekend we hosted PORKFEST 2009 at our house. We had LOTS of food and people over and it was lots of fun. I was a hungry boy after all of my playing with all of the kids - I couldn't open my mouth any wider our shovel in the food any faster!
Dad and our friend Nate smoked up some tasty Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and not to mention fried cheese curds, beans, corn and lots of other sides and goodies friends brought.

We even had a pig pinata and lots of candy.

The big tent and our friends.

We were even able to borrow a jumpy castle to play in! We had lots of fun at Porkfest.
