Porkfest 2009

This weekend we hosted PORKFEST 2009 at our house. We had LOTS of food and people over and it was lots of fun. I was a hungry boy after all of my playing with all of the kids - I couldn't open my mouth any wider our shovel in the food any faster!
Dad and our friend Nate smoked up some tasty Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and not to mention fried cheese curds, beans, corn and lots of other sides and goodies friends brought.


We even had a pig pinata and lots of candy.

We were even able to borrow a jumpy castle to play in! We had lots of fun at Porkfest.

DIGGER

Dear Mom,
I'm at grandma and grandpa Folkestad's house right now and I just had to sneak down and use the computer while everyone else is sleeping. Guess what Grandpa and I did tonight? We went and saw a really big digger! They are ripping up the street in front of the house so I had a front row seat! Grandpa even brought me down REALLY close. I have included some pictures, check them out.

I am going to the farm tomorrow, but don't expect any pictures updated from there. They have a slow internet connection :)

Breakfast Baking

Today mom and I did some baking just for me! We made apple/carrot muffins and whole grain pancakes (w/ mini chocolate chips!) to put in the freezer so I can have lots of yummy, healthy breakfasts to come. I had lots of fun mixing and measuring. If only you could see the floor!

I love my pancakes (there packed w/ wheat germ and flax seed...shhh don't tell!) And who needs to wait for muffins to bake. I ate all of the leftover carrot puree after I was done mixing!

Like a state fair pro

After I was done farming it was time for a State Fair staple: pronto pup and I chowed it like a pro, not to mention lots of other goodies throughout the day. here's mom and dad's ridiculous food list (we shared of course!)
- pronto pup, pizza on a stick, cheese curds, nitro ice cream, honey lemonade, cashew brittle, wildrice corndog, sweet marthas cookies, roasted corn on the cob, french fries, root beer, rc cola and some others we probably forgot to mention!

Little Farm Hands: State Fair 2009

Today we went to the MN state fair and I got to try my hand at being a farmer. First I had to get my apron and bucket.

Every farmer needs a John Deere hat before they can head out to the fields.

Planting my seeds. It was tons of fun at the Little Farm hands exhibit. I got to feed chickens, sheep & a cow, milk a cow, feel some wool and bring my crops to the market and buy and apple w/ my profits!
